Salad Sunrise, which I designed at Domus Academy Milan, was eventually produced by Droog Design, a Dutch label established in the early 1990s by Renny Ramakers and Gijs Bakker.
Droog Design was instantly more successful than anyone had anticipated and Salad Sunrisebecame one of Droog’s icons. People understood the principle of the two liquids and at the same time it confused them: spellbound they sometimes hold it upside down and to their surprise they then see the oil and vinegar splatter to the floor. Since then I have made several designs for Droog Design. In 1996 my Droog products were shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, during the ‘Contemporary Design from the Netherlands’ exhibition.
